My Background

My passion for higher education and working with students began as a resident assistant, admissions overnight host, and study abroad enthusiast as an undergraduate student at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Working with high school and college students has been at the core of my professional experiences ever since. My first few years out of college included serving as an AmeriCorps member, working in public health, and teaching yoga. I later worked for the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Boston College and subsequently served as a lead administrator of a freshman study abroad program at Northeastern University in collaboration with their admissions team. While at Northeastern, I worked with faculty, deans, students, and parents in a wide-array of academic disciplines in several countries. It was exciting to provide robust academic and cultural experiences for students all over the world as they started college before returning to Boston to pursue the rest of their degree. I most recently served as an admissions officer at my alma mater, where I recruited students of diverse academic interests primarily from the East coast, California, and Arizona, and worked with applicants from all over the United States and the world. While at Lewis & Clark I worked with deposited students taking a gap year, coordinated the college’s release of admissions decisions, served as an athletics liaison working with athletic coaches and recruits, helped oversee visit and student-interviewer programs, and managed and trained new admissions counselors.
Sara was very patient and very kind. She really got to know my daughter and then helped her structure the work of applying. Prior to Sara my daughter was very overwhelmed.

Why I Joined College Coach

As the daughter of a young widow and wife of a first generation American, I have seen first-hand the transformative power of higher education. It is a true honor to support families as they navigate this next chapter of life. Applying to college can be a simultaneously stressful and exciting time for students and their families. While validating the intensity of this life experience, I enjoy empowering students to utilize effective communication and organizational techniques to take control of their college search and application process. Education enables students to grow personally, academically, and professionally, and it is exciting to help students find a college or university that is the right fit. My goal is to make all families feel comfortable navigating the college application process and use my experience in the admission profession to demystify the process and have some fun along the way.

Some of my favorite pastimes

I love to make healthy food delicious, explore Portland, Oregon’s food scene, hike, dance salsa, go to Zumba classes, do yoga, learn about foreign languages & cultures, and spend time with my family while exposing our son to the many wonders and adventures life has to offer. I also grew up as an avid dancer (mostly ballet), singer, and musical theater performer. Although I was not a music major, I received a music talent scholarship and participated in choir and vocal music programming throughout my undergraduate experience. I have carried my love of music into my adult-life through singing in a choir at church and incorporating singing and music into my daily life as much as possible. As a college student, I was a summer camp counselor with a passion for teaching teens how to love the outdoors.
