My Background

My career in higher education administration began at a public state college, the University of Oregon, when I was a work-study student in the financial aid office while pursuing my undergraduate degree. After graduating, I worked for state government employment services. However, my true calling led me back to my roots in financial aid. As Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Lewis & Clark College, a private liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon, I fostered educational access by overseeing a wide variety of daily operations. These included processing aid applications, establishing cross-departmental partnerships, matching scholars to endowment funding, and meticulously managing multiple funding streams for a diverse student population. Coming from a disadvantaged background as a Vietnamese immigrant and first-generation college graduate, my passion for improving student access to postsecondary educational funding runs deep.
Excellent resource for us as a family and reduced the anxiety and complexity in a stressful and overwhelming application process.

Why I Joined College Coach

My reward is in helping students and their parents feel informed, prepared, secure, and confident in the decisions they make while navigating the college financing process. Instead of focusing only on one institution at a time as an aid administrator, at College Coach I can learn about thousands of schools across the nation and work with the many students who want to go to these schools. Demystifying the complexities of financial aid on a wider scale has been the most rewarding aspect of my role as a College Coach finance consultant. My mission is fulfilled when I can bring families to a place of ease and relief: peace of mind and paying for college CAN coexist!

Some of my favorite pastimes

Puzzles! Crossword puzzles, word puzzles, riddles, and jigsaw puzzles. Karaoke, gardening, and taking every opportunity I can get to hang out with my husband and daughter. I know it’s cliché, but I also must add traveling to the list! I love being in airports and immersing in different cultures around the world.
