My Background

Alyssa Buchanan’s most recent financial aid role was at St. Thomas Aquinas College, where she was the associate director of student financial services. Previously, she worked as an assistant director of student financial services. Her focus was on graduate financial aid packaging, loan counseling, and state/federal aid processing. Prior to her work in financial aid, Alyssa worked in guidance counseling in a K-12 public school setting and had several years of experience in customer service managerial roles. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a B.A. in psychology and human services. She then earned her M.A. in guidance counseling from New York University. After making the decision to leave counseling, she most recently earned an M.A. in higher education administration from Stony Brook University, beginning her career in college financial services as a financial aid counselor, where she played a key role in supporting students and families through the financial aid process.

I made the decision to join College Coach because I felt that I relate to the overall mission of Bright Horizons, with a significant focus on connecting with people and assisting them in achieving their goals. The unique combination of financial aid and customer service experiences has contributed to my passion to help others and remain up to date in the field while applying my expertise in a meaningful way. Some of my favorite pastimes

In my personal life and free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, particularly outside by a beach, hiking, or skiing. I have a 2-year-old son who keeps us active, so I now have a new interest in construction trucks! We also have two dogs who keep us active and enjoy spending time outdoors.
