My Background

Having worked in university admissions for 25 years, I have gained a wealth of experience that has helped to shape and refine my counseling style. I’ve held roles that range from admission counselor to interim dean of admission, and have worked with domestic, international, first-year, transfer, and graduate students along the way, reviewing academic records and application files for each type of student. I’ve reviewed university policies, provided training sessions, and led colleagues through foreign countries, leadership transitions, and institutional change. But the role I love most is that of navigator and coach. I genuinely enjoy exploring a world of opportunities alongside students as they progress through their individual educational journeys. Reading essays became my favorite part of application review, as it provided the opportunity to get to know a student on a more personal level. Working with international students and traveling on recruitment tours with colleagues from universities around the world gave me the opportunity to develop an understanding of the higher education landscape beyond my own institution. Serving as a liaison to the athletic department at two different D1 universities allowed me to understand the recruitment process from the perspective of both students and coaching staff. Working with current scholars during selection activities for a competitive scholarship program energized me as I got to see all their amazing potential and enthusiasm evolve into a wide range of experiences and pathways to the future. And thanks to tremendous colleagues and an educational community that is so supportive, collaborative, and willing to share knowledge and information, I am fortunate to continue to grow and learn more every day.
College Coach really helped my son to organize his essays, admissions and interview processes. He was admitted to one of the best universities in the south. [College Coach] was excellent, providing support every step of the way.

Why I Joined College Coach

The transformative power of education is something that I have both experienced and witnessed countless times. I believe that there is an educational match for everyone who wants one, and I have always considered it a privilege to work directly with students and families as they navigate their own educational path. College Coach allows me to travel together with families on this journey, with the support of an amazing team of educators to help guide our way. The college search process can be stressful, but it’s also full of excitement and opportunity! To have a small role to play in the process of a student deciding not just what they may want to do, but who they want to become, is so fulfilling.

Some of my favorite pastimes

When the weather allows, I really enjoy spending time outside gardening. I suppose I just like helping things grow! The storyteller in me also enjoys theatre and movies–particularly musicals and classic movies. Travel has played a significant role in both my personal and professional life; I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Asheville and Albuquerque! I try to explore and see the world when I can. I like to relax with a game or a puzzle.
