My Background

I come to College Coach having completed my tenure as a Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at Brandeis University. At Brandeis, I was the territory manager and application reader for high schools in New England, the Mid-West, and my home state of Texas. I reviewed and made decisions on applications for programs including business, the arts, sciences, humanities, and social sciences, as well as many applications from undecided students, In addition to recruiting students and making admissions decisions, I was also a member of the Campus Visit Experience team where I managed nearly 60 student Admissions Ambassadors and Admissions Fellows. We led countless campus tours, information sessions, and panels with the goal of authentically giving prospective students insight into life on campus. Prior to my time in admissions, I worked as the college advisor for two high schools in the Boston Public School system. There, I helped hundreds of high school seniors pursue their post-secondary aspirations, whether that be four-year or community college pathways, or job-training programs and apprenticeships.
Would definitely recommend College Coach…So many questions come up throughout and it really helps to have someone you can trust to give good advice. The outcome couldn’t have been any better for [my daughter].

Why I Joined College Coach

I loved my undergraduate experience, but my journey to where I am today has been not so linear. I am grateful for the support and guidance that I received from my community during my college application process, but it wasn’t until I received the Posse Scholarship that I was introduced to the incredibly broad spectrum of colleges and universities out in the world. My personal experience inspired me to help students find their best fit pathway, while helping them unlock their potential and take steps towards their dreams. Through my work as a college advisor, I saw just how impactful finding the right fit school or program can be for a young person. While working in undergraduate admissions at Brandies, I missed advising high school students in a counselor role. Here at Bright Horizons College Coach I am excited to once again counsel young people and their families towards the next steps in their education.

Some of my favorite pastimes

In my spare time, I enjoy reading fiction whose authors identify with and highlight the experiences of women, people of color, and queer folks. My favorite author of all time is Octavia Butler. The way she draws attention to social injustice through the lens of science fiction and dystopian literature is ingenious! I’m also a massive foodie, and another one of my favorite pastimes is exploring different cultures and communities through the intersection of food and travel. My favorite foodie trip so far has been to Beijing, China. When I’m not traveling, I’m very much a homebody. I can often be found binging a good docuseries, reality TV shows, or any scripted show that can make me laugh. (Abbott Elementary is my favorite right now!)
