My Background

I started my career as a freshman admissions counselor at the University of Florida, where I grew my passion for higher education while recruiting students and evaluating applications from the three largest counties in the state. I also took on the challenge of leading the planning and execution of large-scale recruitment and yield events targeting underrepresented and underserved student populations. I sought out opportunities to expand my knowledge as an assistant director of admission focused on international admission. In that role, I recruited and evaluated both undergraduate and graduate applications for students applying from all regions of the world. I also created and optimized our international student recruitment and yield strategies while collaborating closely with the international student services office, Graduate School, and academic graduate departments to develop admission policies and guidelines that best served students of all backgrounds. Although I have worked with students from every corner of the world, my specific interest and focus included students from Latin America and the Caribbean. I also served on the university student petitions committee, the admission rescind committee, and the admission merit scholarship committee during my time at the University of Florida.
[Our son] has enjoyed working with [his advisor], and it has been very rewarding to see him own the process with her guidance. In other words, as parents we did not need to micromanage any aspect of his applications.

Why I Joined College Coach

For me, the most rewarding part of working in college admissions has always been watching high school students transform from curious and uncertain freshmen to independent and self-assured graduating seniors. What attracted me to College Coach was the opportunity to play an even more active role in that journey. Having once been a first-generation student with little understanding of the admissions process, I understand the apprehension and anxiety that can go along with navigating a new and unfamiliar landscape. I have made it my professional mission to counsel families in a way that brings serenity and a level of certitude to a process that is often complex and sometimes daunting. As a College Coach advisor, I can actively pursue this mission and engage with students in a meaningful and impactful way.

Some of my favorite pastimes

Living in Florida provides me with access to some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the country, so on the weekends, you can usually find me kayaking through Florida’s crystal-clear freshwater rivers and springs or driving across the state to seek out adventure at a state park. I’m also a major foodie and like to attend food festivals and try new restaurants whenever possible. When I’m not out and about, I enjoy growing food for my family in my vegetable garden, listening to true crime podcasts, and fostering cats and kittens on behalf of my local animal shelter.
